Computer Running Slow?

Why my computer is slowing down this is the concern from all PC users. Most of the time when a PC becomes slow a normal PC users starts troubleshooting with different option or steps available offline or online. Technically this is not the best approach to fix slow PC problem. Rather ideally the approach should be scientific so that we may come to know the conclusion or may fix the problem efficiently, effectively and in least time. In a good practice if you encounter any PC related issue it is necessarily advisable to diagnose the issue before going for any resolution. Without knowing about the actual cause behind any problem it is very difficult to fix the problem. For an instance if there appears a message on the screen about any DLL file missing- it is not necessary that the DLL file is really missing, sometime it can be displayed due to virus infection. So real or root cause analysis is must before applying any PC solution.

On the contrary if you have come to know about the root cause of the issue you have encountered it will be very easy to fix it. I rather should say knowing the reason behind is half done of the problem. There were many instances where I noticed a user is running an antivirus program when a driver seemed to be corrupted. It is apparent that here this option won’t work. Similarly there are multiple example of fixing incorrectly to a problem.  Generally when your PC runs slow many factors might be responsible for this.

Faulty or incompatible hardware- If there is any problem with hardware parts it will badly affect your PC’s performance for sure.

Spyware or other infections are in your PC- One of the most dangerous item present in any system. They not only can crease performance problem but also gather personal information from your system without your knowledge.
Hard drive is full and less than 15% of total space left in it- It is advisable to leave at least 15% blank of your hard drive space. Less than this threshold you cannot also run defragment of the drive.

Low memory- Memory is an integrated part of any PC system. If Memory (I refer RAM here) is not sufficient enough to run huge applications like any gaming software the whole system will be very slow.
Startup is full and many items are listed there- If startup is too much packed windows takes longer time than expected consequently leading to slow PC.

Disk is fragmented – Defrag your system regularly.
Huge amount of temporary files and other redundant data are in the system- Temporary files are created during windows various operations but they are not required later. Remove them and save space and performance.

CPU usage is high due to n number of reasons – A virus can cause this issue mostly. Also some security programs may also be responsible for this.

Windows registry is corrupt with malicious items- registry items such as program shortcut, file path folder, empty keys and other uninstalled remnants can cause slow performance problem in your system.
Poor Security Software that is stealing system resources
High graphics or animation can be a possible slow down such as in vista and windows 7.
